Umpires

Whether you agree with their decisions or not, the Club is indebted to the all the umpires who give up their time to ensure that games of hockey can go ahead as planned at the weekend.

They travel the length and breadth of Yorkshire, and sometimes beyond, often to oversee two or even three games on a Saturday.

While the Ladies and Mens 1st teams have neutral umpires allocated by their respective leagues, the rest of the club relies on captains and umpire secretaries to arrange their match officials.

The Ladies/Men's teams must supply an umpire who is qualified to Level 1 at least.

Wherever possible, umpires are allocated to teams a week in advance but depending on times and locations there can sometimes be a last minute panic. Please see below for the contact details for all Harrogate umpires.

Umpire Courses

Details of upcoming umpire courses will be sent to all club members via email. However, if you are interested in becoming an umpire then please contact us: Email and we will make sure you are aware of when the next course will be held.

As the rules of our game change on a regular basis (in the interests of safety, entertainment and just to confuse everybody), we will update this page as necessary with the latest amendments so that you have no excuse for saying "I didn't know that!" when the whistle blows.
