After finishing 5th and 3rd the last two seasons, Harrogate Men’s 1s will be looking to go one better this season and achieve promotion.

With Didsbury and the University of Durham 2s running away with 1st and 2nd spot last season, the team will be looking to make a strong start. It’s been a quiet summer at Fortress Granby, with the club saying a fond farewell to its Argentinian forward Julien Tarras. The club’s philosophy of driving the development of younger players, testament to the success of the U16s in last year’s national tournament, will see more juniors join Ben Pimley in the Men’s 1s squad. The club welcomes Toby Harris back from a year away, whilst Sam Mackarall’s injury nightmare is finally behind him.

With City of York and Ben Rhydding dropping down from the league above, joined by promoted Wilmslow and Leeds 2s, the league will be as competitive as ever. A combination of home-grown talent and experience should see the 1s have a good season.
