Harrogate Hockey Club has a strong men's section which is made up of six teams who play at a variety of levels ranging from the first team in North Division One to the sixth team in Yorkshire Division Six (North).

The section also has a Badgers side who compete in the Yorkshire Development League which is made up of a number of talented youngsters experiencing their first taste of adult hockey.

In addition the section boasts a veterans team who compete in both regional and national cup competitions.

1st & 2nd Team

The 1st team are currently captained by Will Rogers who will be leading the side for his second season. The side will be competing in North Division One where they will be hoping to improve on last seasons 5th place finish.

The side will train on a Monday and Wednesday evening with sessions being taken by their new coach Robin Walker who will also be managing the side on match days.

The team contains a number of players who have come up through the clubs youth system which has led to a professional side on the pitch who also enjoy the social side of the game.

The 2nd team will be led next season by captain Josh Lyon who will be supported by player/coach Stu Norman.

The side finished in mid table last season in the Yorkshire Premier League which was a good achievement given their promotion the previous year. Whilst reaching this position the side were able to give debuts to a number of junior players who they will now look to integrate into their squad for next season.

The side train with the first team on a Monday and Wednesday evening.

3rd, 4th 5th & 6th Teams

Having gained promotion last season the 3rd team will compete in Yorkshire Division Three for the 2016/17 season. The side will once again be captained by Ali Hopps and they will be hoping to continue their progression and challenge for a mid table finish in their new league.

The 4th team will once again be captained by Fraser Mitchell as they will look to build on this seasons mid table finish in Yorkshire Division Four (North). The side went from strength to strength last season gaining confidence with some good results after Christmas. The side will be hoping to take that form into the new season as they push for a top 4 finish.

Chris French's 5th team will now be competing in Yorkshire Division Five (North) following last seasons promotion.

The side last season was predominantly made up of juniors who had progressed from Badgers hockey the previous season. It is hoped that the group can continue to perform well in a higher league and should be aiming for a mid table finish.

The 6th team are once again led by Richard Blunden and they will look to perform solidly again next season in Yorkshire Division Six (North).

Last season the side finished fifth in the league which was their highest position for a number of seasons.

Training for the 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th team will take place on a Monday evening.

The Badgers will once again be looking to defend their title of Yorkshire Development League champions having won the league last season for the third year in succession.

The side will welcome the next generation of talented hockey players that the clubs junior section has produced.

The side will be helped out during the season by a number of senior players at the club who can play a role in developing Harrogate Hockey Club's stars of the future.

The Men's section also runs a Veterans team, which has proved to be very successful – and well-supported – in recent years. The highlight of their year is the Crawfurd Porter Tournament which is held at the end of the season.

The side were successful last season under Stu Normans leadership as they won the Yorkshire Trophy.
